The drama Mere Ban Jao emphasizes the eerie effects of revenge porn.

The drama Mere Ban Jao explores the effects of revenge porn on women, drawing on several real-life cases. Azmia (Kinza Hashmi), the main character, is engaged to her cousin Fardeen (Azfar Rehman). Fardeen has abusive, narcissistic tendencies and serious anger management issues, despite his love for Azmia, as we will see.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Before the wedding, Fardeen uses emotional blackmail to force Azmia to engage in sexual activity over a hidden video call that he records. Azmia is first afraid and hesitant, but Fardeen reassures her time and time again that it's okay because they are essentially already husband and wife and that she should be willing to do this one "small thing" for his happiness.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          The relationship between Azmia and Fardeen eventually ends due to accusations that Azmia is seeing her tailor, Zahid Ahmed, with Azmia. All in all, it's a drama. By now, Azmia is able to see Fardeen for the extremely toxic and problematic person he is, and she won't be giving him another chance. As payback, Fardeen makes Azmia's videos publicly available on the internet, masking his face.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Hashmi, who plays Azmia, believes that in the current digital era, the use of personal photos and videos for exploitation and blackmail is a topic that is pertinent. Speaking with Images earlier this summer, the actor revealed that she researched revenge porn cases online in order to get ready for Azmia's role. She said that it's getting harder and harder to trust people with sensitive information because she personally knows women who have trusted the wrong person and become victims of revenge porn                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Dramas present the social realities of our day and serve as a mirror reflecting the societal ramifications and personal struggles of each individual. Hashmi told Images, "It's imperative to present unorthodox and provocative scripts that transcend the conventional saas-bahu dramas and love stories and address pressing social issues that affect our communities."
